We have this week off of school and we have to still sketch and draw at home! I decided to still explore this new idea of painting apples, SO I went out and bought some watercolor paints (can you believe I didn't own any?!) and painted this this afternoon. First I left the background white, then I explored painting the background! I can't decide which I like better, So i'll let you choose.
Transitioning from value, we started painting still lives this week! I focused on creating the depth and trasparency that an apple has! I really enjoyed painting them! It was my first time really using water color and I really enjoyed it!!
Today we had to grab 3 objects in the room, over-lap in a still life and then draw using chairscuro! This is what I drew!
Here's a project that we were instructed to create based on a piece we did in beginning art. Working on parallel lines and three dimension to create this unique box picture. The new touch was to add color and and shading on the boxes! This is what I finished...
For this collage, we had very few rules; no creating any actual image (abstract-ish) and our final result needed to represent one of the 6 elementss of design. I started out with the idea of texture as my focus, however as I laid out all the bits and pieces of the texture photos on the table that I had ripped out of magazines, I began to realize all the color in the pictures! I emphasized the cool colors on one side and warm colors on the other, grouping them in color patches~ overlapping them to also form a unique design. The black and white copy on the right is suppose to show the value that color shows. Notice how all the warm colors are similar in shade, you almost can't tell red from yellow, and the same with the cool colors in that they look dark.
Today we focused on Value! After reading a section in the art book, we were instructed to pick an object (I choose an apple) and draw a super upclose image on it. Using the graphite sticks we were focusing on value in the apple and nothing else! Turned out good and you can really see the shading and value.
